Qliphoth
The Qliphoth is actually the original surface of Auldrant. However, when the Planet Storm caused the lands to liquefy along with creating miasma, Yulia pushed the remaining solid land into the atmosphere. This plan was carried out to protect the people from the miasma for as long as it could. The land left below became known as the Qliphoth, and was kept secret from the people of Auldrant. Maestros of the Order of Lorelei were the only ones who knew of the Qliphoth, minus the people who lived down below the new surface. When Hod was destroyed, Van and his mother fell into the Qliphoth. Van’s mother was pregnant with Tear and died shortly after giving birth to her. Tear grew up in Yulia City, the only city of people that existed in the Qliphoth before the lowering of the artificial surface. Her job of finding the Seventh Fonstone was the only reason she was given the opportunity to go to the surface. Tear, unlike Van, did not mind living in the Qliphoth, and found it to be suitable enough as a home. Teodoro is the leader of sorts of the Qliphoth, and is the one who took in Van and Tear once they fell into the Qliphoth and their mother died. So, although Van left the Qliphoth to go to the surface, and she no longer had her parents, Tear remained in the Qliphoth with Teodoro. Tear has a small room that is connected to another room with a garden of Selenia flowers. It is here that Luke rests while Asch accompanies the party and where Luke makes up his mind to become a better person rather than sulking in self-pity.
The land raised into the atmosphere by Yulia became known as the “Outer Lands”. The Passage Rings support the pillars that hold up the Outer Lands, so when Luke destroys the Akzeriuth Passage Ring, Akzeriuth falls into the Qliphoth below. The whole town is killed because they fall into the liquefied land below, which has become hot, molten magma. Later, the group manages to temporarily neutralize the miasma and uses the Passage Rings to lower the remaining Outer Lands into the Qliphoth, returning the land to how it once was thousands of years ago.
