Grand Fonic Hymn
The Grand Fonic Hymn is the seven-part hymn created by Yulia. The lyrics have a deep meaning and wisdom behind them, so even though anyone can learn and sing them, it does not mean they can utilize the power. Unless the user truly understands the hidden symbolism within the words, they cannot do anything but simply sing. But that only pertains to the seven separate hymns, as the Grand Fonic Hymn is so powerful that the user does not need to understand the true meaning behind it in order to use it. Tear and Van are the only two in the game that are known to sing the seperate hymns, nonetheless be able to use the power of the Grand Fonic Hymn. The hymn itself represents the pact made between Yulia and Lorelei, and therefore can be used with the Key of Lorelei to call upon Lorelei itself. Van sings the hymn while falling into the core of the Absorption Gate to call Lorelei to save him. Lorelei then resides within Van’s body for the remainder of the game. Tear does not initially understand the hymn’s symbolism, but during the final battle with Van, she realizes the meaning. She then uses it to awaken Lorelei within Van’s body, dramatically weakening him for the party to defeat him.Tear does not know all seven verses at the beginning of the game, but as time progresses, she learns each verse with the help of her friends, and ultimately her brother. Though it is listed more in-depth on the artes page, the sixth fonic hyms Tear uses as attacks are:
First Verse – Nightmare
O melody beckoning toward the abyss...
Second Verse – Force Field
O tune of unyielding protection...
Third Verse – Holy Song
O magnificent song of angels...
Fourth Verse – Revitalize
O healing melody of divine mercy…
Fifth Verse – Judgment
O violent strains that render demons to ashes…
Sixth Verse – Grand Cross
O celestial choir, the light of redemption...
Although Tear does understand the full thing, she never does obtain an arte from the seventh verse. She just uses it to sing the Grand Fonic Hymn in order to awaken Lorelei within Van’s body.
