Prelude

Tales of Symphonia follows the story of a teenage swordsman named Lloyd Irving. His mother was killed and his father was nowhere to be found, thus leaving him to be raised by the dwarf, Dirk. He befriends his classmates Colette Brunel and Genis Sage, as well as their teacher, Raine Sage. Lloyd lives on the outskirts of Iselia, home to Colette, Genis and Raine, but is allowed to come into the town every day.

Currently, there are human ranches that are being maintained in order to produce Exspheres. People from various towns and cities are forced to relocate to a nearby ranch and are worked almost to death. The mana flow is leaving Sylvarant, causing the land to die. Colette has been picked to become the Chosen of Regeneration. She is destined to go on a journey in order to regenerate the world, bringing prosperity to all of Sylvarant. Many people count on her and this journey to save them from the pain and suffering they have to endure while they are in decline.

Lloyd and Genis, as well as Raine and a mysterious mercenary named Kratos Aurion, accompany Colette on her journey as "guardians" to make sure she can complete the task at hand. They have to release the different seals, each one making Colette closer and closer to becoming a true angel, as well as bringing her closer to regenerating the world. Things are not as they appear, however, and with the meeting of Sheena Fujibayashi, Presea Combatir, Zelos Wilder and Regal Bryant, the goals of the Chosen's group begin to change. Will they be able to accomplish their task without sacrificing any more innocent lives?
