Affection

As you can make any playable character Lloyd's soul mate, there are various instances where you can effect each character's affection for Lloyd. If you want to get Kratos back at the end of the game, you'll have to be sure to stay on his good side, as well as talk to him in Flanoir.

IN ISELIA TEMPLE:
• "What did you say!?" (-1)
• "...Gotcha." (+1)

AFTER COLETTE'S FIRST MEETING WITH REMIEL:
• Talk with Kratos first. (+1)
• Talk with Colette or Genis. (Nothing)

AT DIRK'S HOUSE:
• Talk with Kratos. (+3)
• Talk with Colette, Genis or Raine. (Nothing)

AT TRIET INN:
• "Let's follow him." (+2)
• "Let's leave him alone." (Nothing)

CAMPING BY TRIET:

IN OSSA TRAIL:

Then of course there are those overworld skits as well. Not sure what they are? They are those blue and white glowing things on the map that activate skits when you walk into them. The following ones pertain to Lloyd and Kratos:

EAST OF HIMA:
• "Whatever." (Nothing)

SOUTH OF IZOOLD:
• "Yeah." (Nothing)
• "What's so foolish about it!?" (+)

SOUTHWEST OF FLANOIR:

Overall, it is very difficult to sway Kratos away from Lloyd. He is his son after all. Lloyd's responses either generally do not effect Kratos' affection, or increase it, so you really do not have much to worry about. Generally, Kratos tends to agree with the more negative and logical responses, so making Lloyd more mature makes him happy. But he also does not want Lloyd to be down on himself either, because Kratos cares about his son. Just agree with him, and you'll be fine.
