Name

One possibility of Kratos' name origin is from Cratos, also known as "Kratos" or "Cratus". Cratos is a character in Greek mythology, which is a loyal companion to Zeus with his three brothers. Already this sounds a little like Kratos' story, being a companion to Mithos with a small group of others (Martel and Yuan).

Cratos always followed Zeus' orders without question. He accepted Zeus' words as the end all, be all no matter what. He never really had friendship or felt any sort of pity for others because he had no other value to life other than Zeus and his orders. The name "Cratos" also means force, which symbolizes Zeus' role.

This personality lines up closely to Kratos' before he met Anna. Kratos simply followed what Mithos said because he thought that was the right thing to do. It was not until he met Anna that he realized Mithos was wrong and he had a reason to live for. Kratos is a large force in Mithos' companions, as he is a very skilled swordsman and can use powerful magic. He also probably did not feel much pity or have other friends outside of the other three Seraphim before he met Anna as well because of the situation he was in.

Cratos is the god or spirit of strength, power and might. Out of all the characters in the game, Kratos is the one who radiates power from the very beginning. Though Lloyd does end up becoming more powerful, I still do not think Lloyd necessarily “radiates” power. The party thinks he is amazingly skilled and people can just tell he his powerful by looking at him. Again, this may have no connection at all; I just find it ironic how his outer appearance matches this Greek god.
